Wave Swimmers compete at GWOC MEET

The Wave swimmers swam in the GWOC Conference meet on Sunday. The girls finished 13th and the boys were 11th. Zach Toman broke his record in the 100 breaststroke finishing 10th and 13th in the 200 Individual Medley. Megan Foley finished 8th in the 50 Freestyle and 14th in the 100 Freestyle. Sarah Green finished 16th in the 50 Freestyle. Participating in relays scoring points for the Wave were: Foley, Green, Toman, Macayla Mendoza, Jackie Kensinger, Brandon Myers, Jacob Clark, Andrew Cech, Emily Hayes, Jessie Dorsten, Bailey Haworth, Calen Bruner, Tyler Trick and Cylas Conway.

The Wave swimmers participated in the GWOC North meet on Saturday. The girls finished third and the boys finished fourth. Megan Foley finished second in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Zach Toman finished first in the 100 Breaststroke and second in the 200 Individual Medley. Sarah Green finished fifth in the 50 Freestyle. Megan, Sarah and Zach qualified to swim their individual events at the All Conference meet along with all relays.
Other top 8 finishers were: Macayla Mendoza- 4th and 6th, Leah Lewis- 6th and 7th, Jackie Kensinger 7th and 7th, Cylas Conway 7th, and Brandon Myers 8th and 8th.
The girls 200 Medley Relay of Mendoza, Kensinger, Foley and Green finished 2nd.

GHS Wrestling Competes at Miami Trace

Your Greenville Wrestling Team finished 13th at the Miami Trace Invitational this past weekend.~ Placing for the Wave were:~ Jon Edwards-1st, Nelson Roberts-2nd, Nick Woodruff-5th and Sam Quigney-6th.~ The Wave travel to Fairmont this weekend to compete in the GWOC Championships.

NJROTC Competes at the Mid-Ohio Meet

Congratulations to our NJROTC Teams for placing 6th out of 13 teams competing in the Mid-ohio drill meet Saturday. Top placement was 4th by the Physical Fitness team led by Alex Dearing. A Individual award went to Colten Forte for a 6th place finish in unarmed drill out of the 400 competitors. Colten Forte and Tyler Potter received a second place trophy for their Armed Exhibition Duet Routine. Congratulation again to the 30 cadets participating.

Junior High Wrestling Runners Up in GWOC NORTH

The Greenville Junior High wrestling team wrapped up their season by competing in the GWOC Middle School Tournament. Six wrestlers were able to place in the top six of their weight class, catapulting the team to a runner-up finish in the North division. The team placed seventh out of 18 overall. Individual placers for the Wave are as follows:
Champion: Daniel Cline at 128
3rd: Lance Miller at 116
4th: Hunter Gambrel at 110; William Nibert at 142; Craig Nelson at 205
5th: Justin Brown at 122

7th Grade Basketball

The seventh grade boys’ basketball team defeated Wayne Studebaker on Saturday 44-33.~ A great team effort in the second half clinched the victory.~ The Wave was again led in points by AJ Frens with 16, but defensively in the final quarter by Trae Wood.~ They would again like to thank the 7th grade cheerleaders for their continued support.

GHS Wrestling

The Wrestling team finished 7th out of 17 teams this past weekend at the Troy Invitational.~ Placing for the Wave were:~ Jon Edwards-1st, Nick Woodruff-1st, Nelson Roberts-3rd, and Nick Livingston-4th.

JH Boys Basketball Vs. Wayne Studebaker

On Saturday the eighth grade boys’ basketball team defeated Wayne Studebaker by a score of 43 to 34.~ Clay Guillozet had 22 points and Codi Byrd had 10.

JH Wrestling at Franklin Inv

The Wave Junior High wrestlers traveled to Franklin on Saturday morning to compete in the annual Franklin Invitational, a double elimination bracket style tournament. Greenville finished the day in seventh place as a team. Individual highlights were the five place winners:
Sean Wideman: 4th place at 80 lbs
Hunter Gambrel: 4th place at 110 lbs
Lance Miller: Champion at 116 lbs
Daniel Cline: Runner-up at 134 lbs
William Nibert: Runner-up at 142 lbs

GHS Wrestling

The Green Wave Wrestling Team competed at the GMVWA Tournament this past weekend. Jon Edwards placed 3rd for the Wave. The JV Wrestling Team competed at the Versailles Tourney over the break. Placing for the Wave were:Collin Jennings-8th, Andrew Godwin-4th, Tyler Tilley-5th, Brennon Gettinger-7th,Tim Harless-5th, and Marvin Muller-8th.

Junior High Basketball

The 7th grade Boys Basketball team played Springfield Blue December 21st. The Green Wave lead a half 16-15, but trailed 25-20 after three periods. With 5 minutes to play they trailed 27-20. The Green Wave played aggressive defense and some timely shooting from the field and the free throw line beat Springfield Blue 35-31.
