Greenville Junior High Band Members Perform with Darke County Jr. High Honor Band
Select members of the Greenville Junior High School Eighth Grade Band performed with the 84 member, Darke County Junior High Honor Band on February 25, 2012 at the Versailles Performing Arts Center. This was the second year for this honor band which was organized by the band directors from Ansonia, Arcanum, Franklin Monroe, Greenville, Mississinawa Valley, Tri-Village, and Versailles.
Students from Greenville who performed were Dylan Avore, Haley Baker, Sam Ball, Jordan Bourne, Sarah Brandon, Nycole Burk, Cody Coppess, Kamryn Coppock, Scott Denman, Mic Feurer, Zoe Fields, Taenna Fields, Ashton Tester, Alex Lance, Lukas Lowry, Candice Malott, Casey Mortensen, Quintin Muhlenkamp, Alex Parkman, Nicole Sherry, Drew Snell, Joe Suter, Brandon Sykes, and Judge Welbaum.
Members of the Honor Band rehearsed for one and a half days to prepare six musical selections for a public performance. The band helps to engage and challenge our junior high musicians in areas of sight reading, preparing for a concert in less than two days (usually groups will take several weeks to prepare for a concert) and adapt to students and directors from other schools.

Greenville Junior High Jazz Band Meet with Representative Buchy
The Greenville Junior High Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Brian McKibben, recently traveled to Columbus, Ohio as guests of Representative Jim Buchy. The Jazz Band, made up of 7th and 8th grade band students, performed in concert at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower. Following their performance the students were treated to lunch and then took part in a wonderful tour of the Statehouse.
During the tour students spent time on the floor of the House of Representatives speaking with Representative Buchy, who discussed topics of government and the grand House Chamber. The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and time spent with Mr. Buchy.
Greenville Junior High Band Students Successful at OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest April 14th.
Congratulations to the following band members who performed as soloists and ensembles last Saturday at this year’s OMEA Jr. High Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students performed for adjudicators who rated them on a scale from 5 to 1, in which 1 is the highest rating to be earned. All participants earned either a “1” or “2” rating which are the two top ratings to be earned.
Ensemble are:
*8th Grade Woodwind Ensemble: Rating 1: Members are Haley Baker, Casey Mortensen, Candice Malott, Sarah Brandon, Addison Hart, and Zoe Fields
*Snare Drum Trio: Rating 1: Members are Taylor Day, Sam Ball, and Brittany Weyrick
*7th Grade Trumpet Trio: Rating 2: Members are Austin Engelkin, Hannah Bingham, and Nathan Burke
*7th Grade Brass Choir : Rating 1: Members are Paul Smith, Jacob Cain, Samantha Buchy, James Graves, Brandon Allread, and Lyndsey Cook
*7th Grade Woodwind Ensemble: Rating 1: Members are Hope Pike, McKenna Crews, Lauren Baughn, Megan Laux, and Brianna Hartle

State OMEA Choral
Congratulations to the Girls Glee, Men's Choir, Women's Choir and Concert Choir for received a "One" or superior rating at the State OMEAChoral Adjudicated Event this past Friday.~ The choir students are to be commended for their outstanding achievements.
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team won the silver division of the GWOC tennis tournament on Saturday. Derek Lockhart finished in fourth place at 1st singles, Alex Wolter finished in third place at 2nd singles, and Yannic Koelling finished in third place at 3rd singles. Landen Kiser and Sam Bowers were the GWOC champions at 1st doubles, and Chase Strawser and Evan Kiser were the champions at 2nd doubles.
